Anita Nirody

UN Resident Coordinator & UNDP Resident Representative for the Republic of Indonesia

Ms. Nirody is the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative designate for the Republic of Indonesia.

Prior to her assignment in Indonesia, Ms. Nirody served as the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the Arab Republic of Egypt. As the designated representative of the UN Secretary General, she led the United Nations Country Team in Egypt and coordinated the UN and UNDP’s partnership with Egypt in development and humanitarian areas.  Prior to this, Ms. Nirody was the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Uzbekistan where she led and coordinated UN and UNDP development engagement with the Republic of Uzbekistan.

She has 27 years of experience as a development practitioner and has advised over 60 countries globally on a range of multi-disciplinary development issues. She is a passionate advocate for women’s rights and committed to promoting sustainable development and environmental management through partnerships and innovation. Ms. Nirody has postgraduate degrees in International Relations, International Development (with a specialization in Natural Resources Management) and Political Science.

Ms. Nirody is a US national, born and raised in India.
