Kanayo F. Nwanze
President of IFAD
Kanayo F. Nwanze holds a PhD in Agricultural Entomology from the Kansas State University as well as a BSc in Agricultural Science from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Prior to his work at IFAD, he served as Director-General to CGIAR for a duration of 10 years. He is also a member of the Global Agenda Council on Food Security, World Economic Forum.
Nwanze has received honorary degrees from the McGill University (Canada) and from the Warwick University (UK).
He was instrumental in introducing and promoting New Rice for Africa (NERICA): a high-yield, drought- and pest-resistant variety of rice specifically developed for the African Landscape.
